How to Make Boot Disk for Mac?

* A MacBook Pro or 2009 iMac with built-in SD card slot;
* The Mac OS X installation disk of your Mac computer;

1. Insert the SD card in your MacBook or iMac. Then you should open "Macintosh HD -> Applications -> Utilities" to select SD disk in the left panel;

2. Select a "partition" from the drop-down menu of the "Valume Information". Then select the format "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".

3. At last, click the "Apply" option to wait a little bit. Then a format of SD card is ready. After that you're ready to install Mac OS to a SD card.

How to install Mac OS X in SD card?

1. Insert the supplied installation disk for Mac OS X. Double-click on the install icon to install it.

2. Select the install destination disk for the SD card. Click "Continue" and select "custom" in the following installation screen.

3. Now you have to select the components you want to install. At here, you can uncheck the components you not need, such as additional fonts, language pack, X11, printer drivers, etc. In this way, the space can be compressed to 6.2GB.

4. At last you only need to click "Install". Then the Mac OS X will automatically be installed to the SD card. The installation may take you about an hour or so.

After installation, you can use the Mac OS X on your SD card to start. Holding down the "Option" button in the restart, you will enter into a boot manager menu. Just select the SD card to start it.
